DEER CREEK, OK – An Oklahoma man believes he’s snapped pictures of a mythical creature known as a “Chupacabra. ”

Chupacabra is a Spanish word and it translates literally to “goat sucker.” Legends of this sickly, scary, wild dog-like animal, have been circulating for years with spottings in several states including Texas and Arizona.

Craig Martin says the legendary cryptid has been prowling in a field and feeding off the dead carcass of an animal.

Martin told a reporter at KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City that as he took the pictures he thought it looks like a chupacabra, “that’s immediately what we thought and it looks exactly the same,” he said, “there’s not much difference at all.”

Martin says it’s different from a coyote but Michael Bergen, with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife, also told KFOR-TV that the picture is something less mythical, “what we’re dealing with here is just a coyote with a bad case of mange. I’m not saying it’s not part coyote but I think it could be a hybrid.” Bergin continued, “I think it’s probably mixed with another species of dog, but it’s definitely not just a regular coyote. They can say what they want.”

Meanwhile, the debate and mystique of the Chupacabra will no doubt continue with these new pictures only adding to the folkloric legend.
